  • I recommend tuning your piano at least once or twice a year to keep it sounding its best. For most home pianos, a biannual tuning—ideally in spring and fall—helps counteract the effects of seasonal humidity and temperature changes, which can cause strings to stretch or tighten. If you’re a frequent player, a professional performer, or own a piano in a high-use setting like a school or church, quarterly tunings may be ideal to maintain pitch-perfect performance. Regular tuning not only enhances sound quality but also prevents wear on your piano’s components.

  • A basic piano tune starts at £75. Have a look at my services page or bookings page for more details.

  • In most cases, yes! I generally recommend getting the seasonal service option to give me the extra time to work on any issues the piano might have. It’s quite common to find that older pianos won’t go back to concert pitch, however it can still be tuned to itself or even a transposing key so it can still be played with other instruments.

  • A standard tune usually takes around 90 minutes. This depends on whether the piano is behaving itself that day! A service and tune will likely bump that up to 2 hours.
